Reflections,
observations, random thoughts, mental notes!

I believe it was C.S Lewis who reflected “we read to know that we are not alone”. For anyone who has ever
suffered from problematic skin, it certainly does help to share experiences.
This morning I read the following reply to a query posted on Facebook, which
I found really helpful with regards to my own skin.
“To help release the blackheads, before using the
cleansing cream make sure you warm and relax the pores. Ideally use a warm
face cloth or Dr.Hauschka muslin cloth soaked in Lavender Bath. Lavender’s
cleansing, soothing and antiseptic properties assists in preparing the skin
for a thorough and comfortable cleanse. When using the Cleansing Cream, the
suction created with the ‘press and roll’ cleansing method is key in lifting
and releasing dirt and grime clogging the pores. Finally, after rinsing off
all the cleanser apply a cool compress to the skin. The contraction of the
pore has an additional cleansing effect in that it can loosen any stagnant
oil that is blocking the pores. The contrast of warm and cool also stimulates
our internal cleansing system, the lymphatic system which plays an essential
role in skin health and radiance.
Finally as an extra boost I would recommend a weekly steam and deep cleanse with the Facial Steam Bath and Cleansing Clay Mask. These two products work magically together to release any deep-seated oil and old dead skin cells. It also stimulates the circulation of the skin leaving the skin looking incredibly refreshed and radiant” |

My
hairbrush is still in hiding, possibly with a collection of odd socks. I know the very moment I purchase another,
as if by magic the original will reappear.
I don’t blame my hairbrush for hiding, I have been skulking under a
grey cloud all day, a cross between Gollum and the Grandmother from George’s
Marvellous Medicine (with the emphasis on cross). If I were to venture out with a clay mask
applied it would probably greatly improve my mien, or at least complement the
scowl (please note: leaving a clay mask until it cracks is definitely not recommended).
Fortunately, I have an enormous
capacity to make myself smile, nothing like laughter to send an inner grump
on its miserable way…well that and dancing around the kitchen to Eye of The
Tiger. Mental note: share my smile whenever possible: Spending time in the fresh air, simply rejoicing in the beauty of the natural world is another sure fire way to beat the blues. To quote from Elvis Costello, it is “A Good Year For the Roses”. I am pretending that not combing my hair is in fact a good thing -it will surely prevent split ends – which all brought to mind a lovely quote from Audrey Hepburn (see quote of the day).
The
wheatgrass is finally, albeit slowly, on its merry way. So too are the other
seeds, although still no sign of the sweet peas – come on team sweet pea!
Embroidery
update: I figure it will be finished around Christmas time (anyone who knows
me, be suspicious of any embroidery shaped parcels appearing under your tree).

Quote
for the day:
|
“The
beauty of a woman is not in the clothes she wears, the figure that she
carries, or the way she combs her hair. The beauty of a woman is seen in her
eyes, because that is the doorway to her heart, the place where love resides.
True beauty in a woman is reflected in her soul.” – Audrey Hepburn
